Malediction Rulebook & FAQ Update — July 2026
by Nicole Lobo
Heya Seeker, Nicky here with another rulebook and FAQ update for July 2026.
Along with the standard magenta markings on the documents, now you can also find in this article a list with a changelog for the changes for a quicker reading. Now, let’s talk a bit about some of the biggest changes and why we made them.
One of the biggest requests we’ve heard over the past year was for a way to play with more friends without having to form teams. Well… ask and you shall receive. I’m super excited to introduce Dominion, our brand-new free-for-all game mode for three to four players! Temporary alliances, shifting priorities, and the constant threat of betrayal create games where no lead is ever truly safe, keeping everyone involved until the very end.
Another big change based on your feedback were the items! We then took another look at how they interact with mastery. In our research, we noticed that quite a few players felt discouraged from investing heavily into arming their troops knowing that doing so could reward their opponents with more mastery. After a good amount of testing, we’ve decided to change the rules to make item-focused strategies feel more rewarding without taking away the importance of interacting with them. In a nutshell, items do not grant your opponents mastery if destroyed. If your warband enjoys suiting up its units (Auric certainly does) you’ll probably be pretty happy with this one.
Some of you may have also spotted a few spoiled cards during Adepticon. As they are very close to being released, plenty of faq entries received some tweaks to already have these cards clarified on launch. Because of that, you may notice a handful of examples that may seem oddly specific, but they will make a lot more sense once those releases arrive.
We’re also making a small adjustment to our update schedule. Rather than waiting for every rulebook revision, FAQ updates will now happen quarterly, allowing us to answer questions and clarify interactions much sooner. Rulebook updates, however, will continue to be twice a year, giving us the time needed to properly test larger changes before they become official.
That’s everything for today, Seekers. Griza and Liena may have kicked open the door of this next chapter of Malediction, but we’ve got plenty more planned in the months ahead.
As always, you can find the updated rulebook and FAQ by clicking here or visiting the Game Overview section of our website.
I’ll be seeing you then, Nicky out!
